Ministry of education announced a selection
result of BK21+ project. 3 teams in each of SNU and POSTECH are selected. And
the two universities make the most teams selected. 2 teams in each of KU
including Sejong campus, KAIST, and SKKU are selected. And 1 team in each of
GIST, Yonsei Univ., UNIST, HYU, DKU, PNU, SCNU, and JBNU is selected.
This project is pushed forward by Ministry
of education as a next project of BK21 and WCU from this year. The ministry will
put $252.6 billion in this year and about $2 trillion during 7 years.
Dept. of Interaction Science selected as
the Global Human Resources Training Type will invite global scholars for the higher
quality of university education. Especially teams of the Global Human Resources
Training Type are aiming to raise global students leading creative economy. For
that, they will give their students scholarship more than 40% of total project
cost.
21 teams are selected as the Global Human
Resources Training Type. These project teams are supported $21.3 billion for a
year. But $10.8 billion was assigned this year because there is left 6 months. Overall,
1,100 students and 110 Rising Research Resources will receive scholarship and
labor costs.
This Selection Assessment was reflected
review of foreign colleagues for the first time. Foreign professors evaluated feasibility
of their visions and plans on the research plan through research performances.
And the competition was low. Because many WCU project teams slipped out for Creative
Human Resources Training Type based on the future. 21 of 23 teams were
selected.
National Research Foundation of Korea said “The
reason of the low competition is that the teams had the burden of English
research plan and Assessment of foreign colleagues, but also a lack of Infra.
Ministry of education said “We will spread and
share the excellent models through the teams’ release on their website. In
2015, we will eliminate teams having insufficient performances through full-
revaluation and select new teams through open recruitment in 2016.
