Admission Requirements

 

Degree (Applicants must meet one of the conditions below)
(1) Master / Combined Master & Doctorate course applicants
- Those who have earned a Bachelor’s degree./ -Those who are expected to earn a Bachelor’s degree by August 2018
(2) Doctoral course applicants
- Those who have earned a Master’s degree./ -Those who are expected to earn a Master’s degree by August 2018
Nationality (Applicants must meet one of the conditions below)
(1) Those who have foreign citizenship and who have parents that also do.
(2) Applicants with foreign citizenship and have completed entire education courses (elementary, junior high, high school, and university) outside of South Korea.
(3) Applicants who are citizens of Korea and have completed entire education courses (elementary, junior high, high school, and university) outside of South Korea.
(4) Applicants who are the new settlers from North Korea.
Academic Requirements
(1) Applicants with high academic achievement from their previous universities.
Language Requirements(English Track: Department that require Proof of Document for English Proficiency)
※ Without language requirement, applicants will be rejected.
※ Language test scores must be valid at the time of submission
※ Applicants must meet at least one condition from below.

(1) Official English Test score

① TOEFL iBT 71 or above
② IELTS 5.5 or above
(2) Applicants who submit “Certificate of English Proficiency” signed by the chair of our department he/she applied for.
(3) Applicants who submit proof of document for one of the conditions below.
 ① Applicants who are English native speakers.
 ② Applicants who have completed their secondary or higher education in English speaking countries(USA, Canada, UK, Australia, South Africa etc).
※ Students admitted by submitting proof of English proficiency should satisfy the minimum requirement of Korean language ability before graduation.
- Applicants must submit at least one of the documents below
 ① TOPIK level 1 (or above)
 ② Certificate of completion of Korean Course in university-affiliated language institute (level1 above)
 ③ Korean Proficiency Test Result issued by Sungkyunkwan Language Institute(SLI)
 ④ Document that proves completion of Korean Language Course (more than 120 hours)- Free Korean Language course for graduate school students will be provided by SLI.
※ Acceptable Range of Korean Language Course: All On-line, Off-line Korean Courses which are conducted by central/local governments, Institutions, NGOs.

(1) Application form – must be written in Korean or English only, please use your English name as written in your passport
(2) Study plan – must be written in Korean or English only
- There is no designated form for the study plan.
(3) Self-Introduction – must be written in Korean or English only
- There is no designated form for the Self-Introduction.
(4) Letter of consent for degree verification – must be written in English only
- Please submit after filling in and signing all of the underlined blanks which are marked as “♣”.
(5) Letter of request for degree verification – must be written in English only
- Please submit after filling in and signing all of the underlined blanks which are marked as “♣”.
(6) Color Copy of passport (applicant, parents)
(7) Copy of alien registration card(Only for applicants who are residing in Korea)
(8) Official family relationship document between the applicant and applicant’s parents.
* Documents issued within 6 months at the time of submission
(9) Official undergraduate school transcript / Graduate school transcript
(10) Official undergraduate school graduation certificate / Graduate school graduation certificate
- Applicants for doctorate course need to submit both undergraduate and graduate school documents.
- If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course(have not graduated yet), you must submit an official document that indicates your expected date of graduation and must submit a required graduation certificate until a set period.

※ Transcripts must be within the valid period.
(12) Certificate of Korean Government Scholarship Program(KGSP): In case an applicant is supported by NIIED(National Institute for International Education).
